Deck (memory-deck.app) and this website (memory-deck.com) are run by Ignacio Deza, trading as Nearside Design, a sole trader in the United Kingdom. Ignacio Deza is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at privacy@memory-deck.com.
Your account: if you sign up with email, your email address and your password, stored securely hashed so no one can read it, including us. If you sign in with Google, the email address, name and profile picture Google shares with us, and a Google account identifier. We don’t display your name or picture anywhere.
Your decks: the words you add, the names of your decks, and your study progress.
Technical data: our providers process technical information such as IP addresses to run the service and keep it secure. Deck and this website also load some standard code libraries (for layout and for sign-in) from public content delivery networks run by Google, Tailwind Labs and jsDelivr; like any server delivering a file, they receive your IP address.
Only to provide Deck: to sign you in, and to store and sync your decks between your devices. We don’t use your data for marketing or advertising, we don’t track you across other websites, and we never sell your data.
Our legal basis is that we need this data to provide the service you signed up for, and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and understanding, in aggregate, how this website is used.
Deck runs on Google Firebase (Google Cloud). Your account and decks are stored in Google’s data centre in Belgium (EU). This website is hosted by Cloudflare. These providers may process data outside the United Kingdom, under the safeguards required by UK data protection law.
Deck keeps in your browser only what it needs to work: your sign-in, a few display preferences, and changes not yet saved to your account. This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without building a profile of you. We use no advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner.
As long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time inside Deck (Account, then Delete my account). This removes your account and all your decks immediately; you can export your decks as CSV first.
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and object to how we use it. Most of this you can do yourself in Deck; for anything else, contact privacy@memory-deck.com.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Deck is for people aged 13 and over.
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date above. Significant changes will be announced in Deck.
